Heather Williams

Deadline: Monday, December 2, 2019

Current Art Explorium Staff

Heather Williams Executive Director

Heather wishes she could have gone to a place like Art Explorium as a child, but she is trying hard to make up for lost time as an adult. She is thrilled to work at Art Explorium because it brings together children, art and environmental sustainability.

Heather has helped start two community centers.  One was a self-help legal center at the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii. The second was at the Luke Center for Public Service at Punahou School. With her community experience and two young art-lovers of her own at home, working on a community art center for youth is a perfect fit. She opened Art Explorium in 2012 and has been having a blast here ever since.

Jennifer Stikeleather Education Coordinator

Jennifer loves that her inner child can run wild at Art Explorium, and she’s always inspired by watching creative young minds at work. She’s grateful to be part of a team that nurtures children’s imaginations, while being kind to our earth.

She has a degree in marketing and has focused her career on supporting sustainable and ethically-minded companies. She grew up in Seoul, Korea and blooms in cross-cultural environments, always looking to connect over the beauty in our similarities and differences.

Wendy Ikeda Special Programs Coordinator

Some of Wendy’s best childhood memories are when her cousins would come over for dinner. While the parents talked story, the kids would make up their own games. With just household stuff and newspaper, they made costumes, props and gizmos galore. As an adult and parent, she feels that the Art Explorium provides the perfect place to combine this kind of old school flexing of creative muscle with the added bonus of up-cycling non-recyclables.

Wendy is a tree-hugging fiber artist and a Waldorf and Montessori inspired mom for the arts. She is working on special programming (Kid’s Night Out, Camps and Tween/Teen and Adult programming), supports providing art supplies to teachers, and teaches felting and fiber art workshops at the studio.

April Sham pARTy Coordinator

April fell in love with Art Explorium when she discovered our signature Trash-to-Treasure creative station. She loves to up-cycle material, and the idea of enabling children to be art explorers while sharing knowledge about environmental awareness is so exhilarating. She is always ready and excited to plan the next creative-making pARTy.

April has a Fine Arts background specializing in Painting and Printmaking. Besides coordinating super fun pARTiesApril also teaches art classes at Art Explorium and Honolulu Museum of Art. She is the co-owner and creator of ASHAM Prints.
