Cyanotypes (Photographic Sun Prints)
Sunday, September 1st. 1pm-3pm
$15 per student (Ages 3 and up. Children age 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult).
Learn how to harness the sun with this introduction to cyanotypes! A great hands-on summer art project that encourages students to get outside, the cyanotype (a.k.a. sunprint) is a hand-applied photographic process that exposes in sunlight and develops in water resulting in a beautiful blue image. Open to students of ages 3 and up (young artists under the age of 6 should be accompanied by a parent), participants will have the opportunity to coat their own paper to make artwork with the sun all while learning a bit about photographic history and fun. Instructors Ualani Davis and Brandon Ng, former Orvis Artists-in-Residence at the Honolulu Museum of Art, are excited to expose a new generation of young creatives to this fun form of photography.
Exploring Watercolors

Back by popular demand! Create and play with water colors, discover new hues and values, mix and let the colors flow. Learn more about different watercolor techniques, like wet on wet or wax resist. Ever asked yourself how to mix a green or a bright orange out of yellow red and blue? Find your answers in a fun and playful way and create your own beautiful water color greeting cards to take home. Instructor, Regina Bode works with the Honolulu Museum of Arts and the Hawaii State Art Museum teaching courses on Drawing and Painting.
Making Musical Instruments and Dance Party!

Back by popular demand! Join us for this creative and fun workshop making your own percussion instruments from recycled materials. Artist Jerome James is a drummer who will walk you through the steps of making your instruments and show you the different ways to play and perform with them. Learn about different beats and move your body to them! Jerome is the founder of Activ8, an electro-jazz band based in Honolulu and loves teaching children about music.
Marine Debris Art
Sunday, September 22nd: 1pm-3pm
$15 per student or $5 for participants of a Surfrider Foundation Beach Cleanup (Ages 4 and up)

Join us for this creative workshop making beautiful art from trash found in our ocean. Art Explorium is partnering with the Surfrider Foundation to clean up our beaches and reuse what we find! Children will learn about the importance of taking care of our ocean while creating their art. Instructor Nicole Chatterson is a RISE mentor at Kupu where she works towards waste reduction in Hawai’i.We encourage you to bring your own marine debris to the workshop. Children who participate in the Surfrider Foundation’s August 24th or September 21st cleanup will receive a $10 discount at the workshop. .

Dance Painting!
Sunday, September 29th: 1-3pm.
$15 per student (All Ages. Children age 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult).
Movement Art is a fantastical exploration where body, mind, artist and canvas come together to create live art! We will be using our bodies-in-motion to “dance paint�? on large scale paper. Discover your outer-movement artist with freestyle dancing, and your inner-movement artist with music inspired drawing and choreography. Find a new love for Movement Art and come celebrate with friends and family!
