Lei Making & Nature Art
Tuesday, June 5, 9 am – 12:30 pm
$10 per person (adults & keiki)
Ages 5 and up
*Teachers are invited to attend this event alone or with their children (grades K-12), but children may not attend without a parent.
Join us to learn how to make beautiful art from plants gathered at the Mānoa Heritage Center! We’ll first venture through Mānoa Heritage Center’s beautiful gardens to gather and learn about native plants. Adults and older children will then learn the wili style of wrapping to make lei poʻo, while younger children will have the opportunity to create leaf prints and other nature art. Participants will also be able to learn a bit about native plant propagation and take a home a plant to start their very own lei garden. Students are encouraged to bring flowers or plants from their yard or neighborhood to include in their projects. A box lunch for each participant will be generously provided by Mānoa Heritage Center. Please enjoy your lunch with us out in the garden!
Please note that this workshop aims to connect teachers with art, ideas and resources. It does not fulfill any teacher professional development requirements. Spaces are limited with priority given to current Hawaii public and private school teachers.
