Indigo Dyeing

We’ll explore the basics of indigo dyeing: Learning about where indigo dyeing comes from, the history of indigo dyeing and the many different resist techniques used. Students will have a chance to try out several different resists on their own to take home with them. Art Explorium will provide one piece of fabric for each student to work on. Students are also invited to bring an additional upcycling project from home, such as an old t-shirt or small tote bag. Items should be t-shirt-size or smaller and materials should be made from natural fibers like cotton, wool or linen. Artist teacher Emma Hussey is staff at the Honolulu Museum of Art School and has been teaching at the Art Explorium for two years.   REGISTER HERE
